Men's Track And Field Finishes Weekend At Princeton And Widener

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's track and field program wrapped up another split squad weekend on Saturday evening. A handful of Explorers tested their skills at the Larry Ellis Princeton Invitational while the rest of the team competed locally at the Widener Invitational.

Paul Reilly was the top Explorer finisher in the 800m with a 1:51.50, good for a 13th place finish (50-runner field). Wayne Bartholomew clocked a 1:52.35 in the event en route to a 19th place finish.

Alfredo Santana finished in the top third of the 1500m field with a 17th place finish. The senior clocked a 3:49.74, just a second shy of his career PR.

Widener Invitational
Ryan Topita placed 14th (61-runner field) in the 5000m run with a 15:32.72. Rodrigo Nunez clocked the top La Salle time in the 10,000m run, clocking a PR finish with a 34:58.05 and earning a fifth place finish.

Nick Crits paced the Blue and Gold in the 1500m with a 4:00.25 finish, good for 20th place. Brendan Robertson clocked a PR with his 4:02.96 finish en route to a 25th place time.

Crits competed in the 800m run as well, finishing seventh with a 1:55.25. Kevin Grosso and Chris Trimble crossed the finish line 19th and 20th, respectively with a 1:57.44 and 1:57.47 (PR).

William Pettis set a PR in the 100m dash with a 11.23, good for a third place finish (45-runner field). Jerome Brown and Oren Buie finished 18th and 19th, respectively with times of 11.57 and 11.64.

Buie was the top Explorer finisher in the 200m, placing seventh (54-runner field) with a 22.62. In the 3000m steeplechase, Ben Pershall obliterated his previous PR by over 16 seconds with a 9:37.36, earning a third place finish.

Francis Mancho placed seventh (24-competitor field) in the long jump with a 6.00m while Michael Santeramo threw the javelin 51.42m, good for eighth in the event.

The Explorers will compete again this week beginning on Thursday in the much anticipated Penn Relays. Others will head to Ewing, N.J. on Saturday for the TCNJ Lions Invitational.
