PHILADELPHIA - The women's novice eight captured the silver medal to lead the La Salle crew at the Kerr Cup Regatta this weekend on the Schuylkill River.

The Explorers clocked a 6:12.0, but were edged in a heartbreaker by Drexel which finished just two-tenths of a second ahead in 6:11.8. The Explorers topped Villanova and Fordham in the race to earn the silver.

The varsity eight posted a fourth place finish out of six boats in the final, clocking a 6:42.6. Washington College won the race with a time of 6:28.8, while the Explorers outlasted Villanova and Philadelphia University.

The second varsity eight was also in action, finishing third in a three-boat race with a time of 7:23.3. Drexel won in 6:46.2.

The Explorers return to the water on Saturday (4/27) when they compete in the Kelly Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River.
