AMBLER, Pa. – Temple's Eric Peterson shutout the Blue and Gold on Saturday afternoon, forfeiting only one hit in the ninth inning in a 3-0 Owl victory at Skip Wilson Field. The Explorers fell to 10-16 (5-3 A-10) on the year while Temple improved to 11-15 (3-5 A-10).
Peterson hit two batters and walked another, but did not surrender a hit until the ninth inning when freshman
Joey Ravert (1-3) laced a double to spoil the no-hit bid. Senior
Dan Klem (0-3, BB) reached base via walk while George Smith, Jr. (0-2, HBP) and
Mark Williams (0-1, HBP) both were hit by pitches.
Temple scored one in the third, one in the fourth, and one in the sixth, giving Peterson ample insurance to cruise to a victory.
Sophomore
Mark Williams started the game on the hill for the Explorers and took the loss (0-1), allowing one earned run in three innings. The Blue and Gold trotted four more arms out to the mound on the afternoon, allowing six Owl hits.
The city-rivals will play the series rubber match tomorrow at 1 PM.
