PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's track and field squad placed 14
th of 30 teams in the Colonial Relays over the weekend. The Explorers scored 28 team points on a day highlighted by a second place finish in the 5000m by
Alfredo Santana, two individual top-10 finishes in the 800m, and a third place finish in the 4x800m relay and 4x1500m relay.
Santana clocked a 14:00.93 in the 5000m, obliterating his PR by over 20 seconds en route to a second place finish. The senior missed finishing first by only .84 seconds, ending behind second-team All-American Kevin Williams of Oklahoma.
Seniors
Paul Reilly and
Wayne Bartholomew placed fifth and sixth, respectively in the 800m race. Reilly crossed the finish line at 1:51.93 while Bartholomew was close behind at 1:52.08. The tandem combined to earn the Blue and Gold seven team points in the 63-runner field.
Bartholomew and Reilly ran the last two legs of the 4x800m relay as well, aiding a 7:39.65 finish which was good for third place (17-team field).
Brett Shepherd and
Sean Mallon ran the opening legs for the Explorers.
La Salle placed third in the 4x1500m relay as well, combining for a 15:59.75.
Kevin Day,
Zach Sullivan,
Brendan Robertson, and
Ian Barnhill enabled the Blue and Gold to pick up six team points in the event.
