PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle baseball team picked up seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings in a 9-6 defeat of Lafayette on Tuesday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field. Freshman
Joey Ravert tallied a career-high four hits while sophomore
Justin Korenblatt knocked his first career homer and drove in a career-high four RBI.
The Explorers improved to 12-17 on the season with the win while the Leopards slipped to 6-26. The victory marked the second victory over their non-conference rival within the span of the week.
The ballgame began quietly, with each time posting zeroes through the first three innings. The visitors got to the La Salle starter, sophomore

The Leopards added two more off Hollman in the fifth, ending his day with four runs in 4.2 innings of work. Freshman
Austin Clark entered in relief and escaped with fifth, stranding runners on second and third.
La Salle closed the gap to 4-2 in the sixth but exploded for four runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth. Leading 6-4 in the bottom of the eighth, Korenblatt tacked on three more with one swing of the bat, depositing a first pitch fastball well over the right field wall.
The insurance runs proved to be valuable, as Lafayette scored two more runs in the ninth and left the bases loaded. Sophomore
Adam Cherry earned the save by retiring the final hitter of the game.
Clark (1-1) picked up his first win on the season for the Explorers while Lafayette's Ari Kaufman's record dipped to 0-2 on the year.
Both the Explorers and Leopards tallied 11 hits on the day. The Blue and Gold earned four walks and five hit-by-pitches.
La Salle will play another non-conference tilt on Wednesday when the Penn Quakers visit DeVincent Field at 3 PM.
