DELAND, Fla. – The La Salle men's soccer team ousted Stetson, 3-1, on Saturday evening at the Athletic Training Center. The Explorers used a trio of second half scores to down the home team and improve to 3-3-2 on the year.
Senior
Glenroy Chapman got the Explorers on the board in the 45
th minute when sophomore
Joe Farrell slid one past the Hatter defense, finding Chapman's foot for the score. The goal marked Chapman's third of the season and his second in as many games.
Less than five minutes later, Farrell picked up his second assist of the match when he sent a thru-ball to sophomore
Andrew Connors, who netted the marker off the helper.
The Explorers put the match on ice in the 73
rd minute when senior
Giancarlo Granese found the net for the first time this season to put the Blue and Gold up 3-0. Freshman
David Keen recorded his first assist of the season on a cross, finished by Granese's one-timer.
Stetson got on the board in the 87
th on a Raffaele Centofanti netted his first of the season to ruin senior
John McCarthy's shutout. McCarthy made four saves in the victory.
The Hatters (1-5-2) outshot the visitors 16-8 but La Salle made the most of its four shots on goal.
La Salle suits up again on Wednesday at 7 PM when it hosts Villanova at 7 PM.
