OLEAN, N.Y. - La Salle could not overcome cold shooting on Wednesday evening, dropping its first Atlantic 10 game of the season in a 58-35 setback at St. Bonaventure.
The Bonnies (13-6, 2-2 Atlantic 10) were led by Katie Healy's double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds. Hannah Little added 13 off the bench.
No Explorer reached double figures.
Micahya Owens led with nine points, while
Leeza Burdgess and
Alicia Cropper chipped in seven each for the Explorers (9-8, 4-1 Atlantic 10).
The game appeared at the outset that it would be a back-and-forth high scoring affair with the teams scoring on nearly every possession through the first media timeout.
The Bonnies regrouped defensively after that first media timeout and Chelsea Bowker hit a three as the home squad would not relinquish the lead after that.
The Explorers had many chances, rattling off 54 shots to the Bonnies' 37, but the Bonnies were more efficient in going 48.6 percent (18-37) to the Blue & Gold's 20.4 percent (11-54).
Neither squad found rhythm from long range with each team netting just one three-pointer apiece. The teams combined for a paltry 2-for-15 from long range.
The Bonnies also won on the boards, outrebounding the Explorers 41-29.
The Explorers return home on Sunday (1/19), hosting Big 5 rival Saint Joseph's at 5 p.m. in a game televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
