BALTIMORE, Md. – The La Salle men's swimming and diving team blasted Loyola (Md.), 223-74, on Saturday afternoon. The Explorer men posted 14 top finishes in the day's 16 events.
The 200-yard medley relay team began the day with a first place finish (Derr, J. Gravel, Fisher, K. Gravel), registering a 1:35.73. The 400-yard freestyle relay squad (Roth, McCall, Cabral, Hughes) wrapped up the day on a high note, coming in first with a 3:10.84.
Johan Roth won a pair of races, coming in first in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.40) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.90).
Mattias Glenesk took the top time in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 9:40.48, finishing nearly 15 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, teammate
Sean McCall (9:55.12). Glenesk also placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:43.91.
Stefan Sharpe placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:44.20.
Jerry Gravel led the way in the 200-yard IM, clocking a 1:55.39.
Dave Derr won the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 51.30. He owned the 200-yard backstroke later on in the afternoon, winning with a 1:55.77.
Greg Fischer clocked a 1:56.33 in the 200-yard butterfly, good for first place. In the 100-yard butterfly,
Cameron Fadley notched a 53.29, taking the top time.
On the diving board,
CJ Gimpel won both his events, scoring a 266.92 on the 1-meter board and a 241.28 on the 3-meter board.
The Explorers are back at it on Friday, February 1, when they travel across town to Penn for a meet beginning at 11 AM.
