Explorers Travel to George Washington, VCU This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team continues Atlantic 10 play this weekend as they visit George Washington on Friday and VCU on Sunday.

Scouting the Explorers

The Blue and Gold are coming off a 3-1 loss to Fordham to open A-10 play after winning three of four to wrap up their nonconference schedule.

La Salle's Joe Farrell is tied for sixth in the A-10 in goals (four) and tied for seventh in points per game (0.82) while sophomore Matt Robinson has found pay dirt three times this season.

Mike Kirk has started the last seven games in the net for the Explorers, recording three shutouts and a goals against average of 1.39 on the season.

Scouting the Colonials


George Washington is coming off a three-game road trip which concluded with a loss to Rhode Island on Saturday to open conference play.

Junior Jonny Forrest leads the Colonials with three goals this year while sophomores Garrett Heine and Angel Valencia have each scored twice.
         
La Salle is 10-8-2 against GW in the all-time series, which dates to 1984. The Explorers edged the Colonials 1-0 on the road last November.

Scouting the Rams


VCU has played six opponents ranked in the Top 25 and come away with victories over No. 6 Georgetown and No. 20 George Mason. The Rams opened conference play with a 1-1 draw at Massachusetts on Saturday.

Kharlton Belmar is tied with Farrell for sixth in the A-10 in goals scored, and just cracks the top 10 in total points (8). Belmar and Jose Manel have both scored game-winning goals, while Mario Herrera Meraz is tied for sixth in the league in assists.
