RICHMOND – The La Salle men's soccer team played a double overtime draw with the VCU Rams at Sports Backers Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams poured in 19 shots against La Salle keeper Mike Kirk, who tallied five saves. The Explorers had seven shots on the afternoon, including two on goal. The Rams also controlled corner kicks 8-4.

Joe Farrell had a team-high three shots for the Explorers while Nick Becker added two. Mike Liska and Bobby Briggs also added shots for the Blue and Gold.

VCU (4-7-4, 1-0-3) was flagged for being offside five different times, while La Salle (4-7-3, 0-2-2) was flagged for being offside twice. The contest saw a total of 23 penalties.

The Explorers battle for Philadelphia bragging rights next Friday as they visit A-10 rival Saint Joseph's at Sweeney Field 7 p.m. The Rams are on the road next weekend against Duquesne and St. Bonaventure.
