PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's swimming and diving team continued their strong start with a 184-116 win over the Drexel Dragons at Kirk Pool on Friday afternoon.
"The teams responded well to the back-to-back meet," said head coach
Matt Nunnally. "If these meets are indicative of where our season is headed, it's going to be a fun year. But we need to remind the team this is a long season and it has only just begun."
The 400-yard medley relay team of
Fabian Bergman,
Johan Roth,
Jakub Bartosiewicz, and
Justin Hughes got the Explorers off to a strong start with a first place finish (3:23.22), breaking a Kirk Pool record that had stood for 26 years. The previous record was 3:26.17.Â
Hughes also won two individual events, taking the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:42.84 and the 100-yard freestyle with a 47.39.
Roth was another strong performer for La Salle, winning the 200-yard breaststroke (2:05.75) and finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.91) behind teammate
Dimitrije Mladenovic (57.78). Â
The Explorers are back in action on Saturday November 1 in a meet with Duquesne and St. Bonaventure at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.Â
