PHILADELPHIA – Senior
Colleen Kempf put an exclamation point on her final home game, scoring two of La Salle's four goals in a 4-1 rout of Bryant in nonconference action at DeVincent Field on Sunday afternoon.
Gina Smith added her second goal of the weekend and
Jess Hoffman drained her first collegiate goal.
Olivia Leaman added two assists and
Maddy Tettelbach added a helper, as all three seniors (Kempf, Leaman, Tettelbach) recorded at least one point on their Senior Day. With the win, the Explorers wrapped up their home schedule with a 5-1 record at DeVincent Field this season.
Kempf scored both of her goals in a five-minute span midway through the first period. She picked up a rebounded save of Leaman's shot and pounded it into the back of the cage for the game-winning score at 19:18. She added her second goal at 24:30. Tettelbach picked up a rebounded shot and chipped it over to Kempf, who tipped the ball into the left side of the cage.
The Explorers made it 3-0 before the halftime break, as Smith drained a goal with just 1.6 seconds on the clock until the break.
Abbey Lawrence ran the ball down the right side of the field and crossed it to Smith who was standing near the right post, and Smith slipped it behind Bryant keeper Megan Hancock.
Hoffman capped off the Explorers' scoring at 47:04. Leaman took a shot off of a penalty corner, which Hoffman tipped in to put the home squad up 4-0.
The Bulldogs got one back in the 63rd minute, as Bryant leading scorer Rosie Bird received a pass from Victoria Danby off of a scramble in front of the cage for what proved the final 4-1 score.
Rachel Hartman earned the win and made eight saves while yielding no goals.
Brittany Paschall played the final 7:48, making three saves and yielding the Bulldogs' lone score. Hancock made 10 saves for the Bulldogs.
The Explorers dominated the shots in the first half, outshooting Bryant 15-7 before the break. They owned a 21-18 shot advantage for the game. Bryant edged the Explorers on penalty corners, 8-5.
The Explorers wrap up the regular season on the road, playing at Saint Joseph's on Friday before a final nonconference game at Lehigh next Sunday.
