PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team opens Atlantic 10 conference play on Friday night when they host the Fordham Rams at McCarthy Stadium at 7 p.m.
Scouting the ExplorersThe Blue and Gold (4-5-1) wrapped up nonconference play with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory over LIU Brooklyn last Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.
Matt Robinson scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 94
th minute to propel La Salle to their fourth win in a five-game stretch.
Robinson and
Joe Farrell pace the squad in goals with three apiece, while Farrell also leads the team with two assists.
Mike Kirk has started the last five games in goal for the Explorers, recording three shutouts on the way to four wins.
Scouting the RamsFordham (3-6-1, 0-1-0) opened conference play on Sunday at home with a 1-0 loss to Rhode Island, and have lost their last four contests. Their wins came over Lafayette, Manhattan and Temple in overtime.
The Rams have been shutout since a 1-0 win over Temple on September 17, but have a top flight scoring option in Andres Penfold. The senior is currently third in the league in goals (five) and tied for third in points (11).
