Men's Swimming and Diving | December 3, 2014
PHILADELPHIA –Nine members of the La Salle swimming and diving teams will head to Greensboro, N.C. for the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships. The meet, which is hosted by USA Swimming, will span four days beginning December 3 at the Greensboro Aquatics Complex.
Seven members of the men's swimming will make the trip, including
Fabian Bergman,
Jakub Bartosiewicz and
Mattias Glenesk.
Bergman has twice earned recognition from the Atlantic 10 this season, winning three individual races and helping the Explorers take the 200-yard medley relay to earn Rookie of the Week against George Mason (Nov. 18) before grabbing Performer of the Week following the Bucknell Invitational. Over the three-day event, the freshman a school record in the 200-yard backstroke final (1:46.50) and won the 100-yard backstroke final (48.71).
Bergman and Bartosiewicz, along with
Johan Roth and
Justin Hughes, set a new school record in the 400-yard medley relay (3:18.09) and earn a win the 200-yard medley relay. Bartosiewicz also won 100 and200-yard butterfly to nab Rookie of the Week (Nov. 25).
Meanwhile, Glenesk won Performer of the Week (Nov. 4) after winning the 1,650 and 500-yard freestyles against St. Bonaventure.
Also representing the Explorers will be Roth,
Jerry Gravel,
Strahinja Stankovic, and
Dimitrije Mladenovic.
Senior Chelsea Curran and junior
Kelsey Jenkinson will represent the women's team. Jenkinson has also earned A-10 recognition, capturing Performer of the Week (Nov. 18) after winning both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.53) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.52) against George Mason. Curran continues a strong senior campaign which includes a win in the 100-yard backstroke against Mason.
