Men’s Swimming & Diving Clipped at Penn, 162-122

PHILADELPHIA – In its final test before the Atlantic 10 Championships, the La Salle men's swimming and diving team lost, 162-122, to Penn on Saturday afternoon at Sheerr Pool.

La Salle cleaned up in the 50-yard butterfly, nailing down the top three times in the event. Greg Fischer paced the Blue and Gold with a 24.03.

The Explorers owned the 200-yard IM as well, placing 1-2-3. Jerry Gravel came in first with a 1:54.66.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team (Cabral, Roth, McCall, Derr) posted the top time, coming in at 1:26.04.

Mattias Glenesk continues to stay hot, placing first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 9:24.89. Later in the day, the freshman notched a 4:38.63 in the 500-yard freestyle, good for second place.

Johan Roth won the 100-yard breaststroke, registering a 58.41.

Sean McCall came in second in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking a 1:43.04.

Dave Derr finished second in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 52.72.

The Blue and Gold return to the pool on February 19 at the Atlantic 10 Championships, hosted by the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
