GENEVA, Ohio – The La Salle men's swimming and diving team tallied 90 team points on day one at the Atlantic 10 Championships, good for third place heading into a full slate of action on Thursday. The day was highlighted by a third-place performance (248.80) by
CJ Gimpel in the finals of the 1-meter dive, earning 16 points.
Like Gimpel,
Robert Freeling qualified for the 1-meter dive final. He placed seventh with a 223.80, picking up 12 points.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team (Sharpe, McCall, Gravel, Cabrera) came in fifth, clocking a 6:43.04. The time earned the Explorers 28 team points.
The 200-yard medley relay team (Derr, Roth, Fischer, Cabral) combined for a 1:31.36 in the finals, placing sixth and earning 26 team points.
The Explorers trail only Massachusetts (133 points) and St. Bonaventure (100 points). Fordham (61 points) and Saint Louis (60 points) sit in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The championships resume Thursday morning at 10:30 AM.
