PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle baseball team will visit Duke this weekend for the Blue Devil Classic. The Explorers will play Duke on Friday, Akron on Saturday, and Saint Louis on Sunday in the round-robin tournament. Sunday's game against SLU will not count as an Atlantic 10 Conference game.

• Newcomers Josh Savakinus and Cameron Johnson each enjoyed big opening weekends for the Explorers. Savakinus went 4-for-11 (.364) with 2 RBI while Johnson went 5-for-14 (.357). The tandem combined for nine of La Sale's 24 hits against Campbell.
• Kevin Conroy added a pair of RBI in Sunday's game in pinch hit duties.
• Despite only logging five at bats (two hits), Jack Meeker touched home three times over the weekend.
• George Smith Jr leads the team in on base percentage through three games at .455. He went 1-for-6 last weekend with three walks and one HBP.
• Faust threw three innings of one-run ball on Sunday in his second career start.
• Despite giving up four earned runs in 3.2 innings on Saturday, Hollman fanned five batters.

• Duke enters the weekend 2-2, most recently dropping a 9-8 game to UNC Greensboro on Tuesday.
• The Blue Devils were picked to finish fifth (of seven) in the ACC Coastal Division in the preseason coaches poll.
• Jordan Betts is 8-for-17 through three games, posting a .471/.550/.706 slash line to go along with 7 RBI
• Chris Marconcini is batting .438 (7-16) and has swiped three bags in as many attempts.
• Starting pitcher Trent Swart won is only outing the season against Binghamton, throwing five innings of one-run ball. He struck out five and walked two in the outing.

Zip Notes

• Akron dropped a pair of games at Winthrop last weekend, losing 6-5 and 6-2
• The Zips were picked to finish fifth (of six) in the MAC Eastern Division in the preseason coaches poll.
• Kris Simonton is the lone Zip currently batting at least .300, going 3-for-9 last weekend.

• SLU took one of three last weekend at Alabama, winning the opener 2-1.
• Colton Frabasilio led the Billiken offense with a 4-for-10 showing over against Alabama.
• Preseason all-A10 selection Mike Vigliarolo hit a home run while going 4-for-12 against Crimson Tide pitching.
