GENEVA, Ohio – The La Salle men's swimming and diving team picked up 82 team points on Thursday evening at the Atlantic 10 Championships and sit in fourth place heading into Friday's action with a total of 172.
Mattias Glenesk registered the top individual performance of the day for the Explorers, coming in fifth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:30.31. He earned 14 team points with the finish.
Stefan Sharpe added six points of his own with an 11
th place time of 4:32.60 (PR) in the consolation final.
Four Explorers earned points in the 200-yard individual medley, led by
Johan Roth's sixth place time of 1:51.11 (PR).
Kip Gravel swam a 1:51.60, good for eighth place. In the consolation final,
Strahinja Stankovic clocked a 1:50.91 while
Cameron Fadley touched the wall at 1:53.08, coming in 10
th and 14
th, respectively. The quartet combined for 35 team points in the event.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Jonathan Cabral posted a 21.08, good for 15
th place and two team points. Cabral swam the opening leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay that finished sixth with a 1:23.44. Cabral, Roth,
Sean McCall, and
Dave Derr combined to clock the 26-point finish.
Heading into Friday, the Explorers trail Massachusetts (243 points), St. Bonaventure (242 points), and George Mason (178 points).
The Atlantic 10 Championships will resume on Friday morning at 10:30 AM.
