GENEVA, Ohio – Katie Snee captured Atlantic 10 gold on Thursday evening at the Spire Institute, clocking a school-record 23.17 in the 50-yard freestyle en route to a first place finish. The senior broke the previous school record (23.27) set by
Elizabeth Jordan '13 at the conference championships a year ago. Snee's effort earned the Explorers 20 team points.
The senior also swam the opening leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay that placed third. Snee, along with
Tanawan Sukonthapanich,
Kaitlyn Hay, and
Sarah Finn combined for a 1:38.04, good for bronze. The performance gained the Blue & Gold 32 team points.
The Explorers showed strong in the 500-yard freestyle as well, paced by a fourth place effort from
Colleen Larkin (4:54.72).
Greta Reichert was hot on her tail, coming in fifth with a 4:54.83 (PR). The duo pulled in 15 and 14 team points, respectively.
In all, the Explorer women tallied 71 points on Thursday, bumping up to fifth place in the team standings (145 points).
Richmond sits in the top spot (236.5 points) while Massachusetts (159 points) and Fordham (156) are in second and third, respectively.
The Atlantic 10 Championships will resume on Friday morning at 10:30 AM.Â
