Snee Wins 100-Yard Freestyle Gold on Saturday at A-10 Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Senior Katie Snee placed a cherry on top of a sterling career on Saturday evening at the A-10 Championships, clocking a 50.56 in the finals of the 100-yard freestyle en route to her second gold medal of the weekend. She also won the 50-yard freestyle on Thursday evening with a school-record time of 23.17.

Kaitlyn Hay (51.88) and Sarah Finn (52.45) each gained points in the consolation final, finishing 12th and 16th, respectively.

The Explorer women concluded the conference championships with 318 team points, good for sixth place.

"It was a great showing of commitment and determination to excel throughout this four-day meet," head coach Matt Nunnally said. "The drive and determination that the swimmers and divers showed makes the coaching staff proud."

Seniors Colleen Larkin (16:39.66) and Greta Reichert (16:43.86) went out in style, placing second and third, respectively in the 1650-yard freestyle final. Larkin missed breaking the 26-year old school record by just 1.06 seconds. Hayley Miles picked up a point in the event with a 17:16.92.

Chelsey Curran set aside her own school record in the 200-yard backstroke consolation final, posting a 2:01.96. The time was good for third in the heat.

Kelsey Jenkinson swam a 2:17.01 in the 200-yard breaststroke final, coming in seventh.

Julia Mann clocked a 2:05.18 in the 200-yard butterfly consolation final, ending 14th overall.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team (Snee, Finn, Tanawan Sukonthapanich, Hay) combined for a 3:27.35 in the event final, finishing ninth.

Richmond secured the top prize in the conference with 645.5 team points. Fordham (493) and UMass (467) finished second and third, respectively.
