Game Notes

La Salle | Fordham

Last Time Out
The Explorers got revenge on St. Bonaventure, dispatching the Bonnies 75-67 on Wednesday night at Tom Gola Arena. With the score deadlocked at 67-67 with 2:07 remaining, La Salle dominated in the waning moments, scoring the final eight points to score the victory. The Explorers had their best shooting performance of the season, going 26-of-46 (56.5%) from the field in the contest. Tyreek Duren and Jerrell Wright led the Blue and Gold with 18 points apiece, while Tyrone Garland and Sam Mills both added 12 points.

All-Time Series
The Explorers possess a substantial lead in the all-time matchup history against the Rams. La Salle holds a 33-13 edge, which includes a 89-53 rout of the Rams last season at Tom Gola Arena. La Salle poured in 56 points in the first half, coasting to the 36-point win. Sam Mills led all players with a game-high 21 points, shooting a scintillating 7-of-8 from three-point range.

Scouting the Explorers
La Salle made its first seven threes on Wednesday vs. St. Bonaventure, its longest such stretch of the season. The Explorers are 14-for-33 (42%) from range in their past two games.

Duren continues to provide the locomotion for the Explorer offense. He is averaging 16.6 points/game in the conference, eighth-most in the A-10. He also leads the squad in steals (43), assists (96), and ranks second in the league in minutes/game (35.9). He has been in double figures in every game dating back to December 15 vs. Villanova.

Junior Jerrell Wright is averaging 15.3 points/game over his last seven, registering a double-digit point output in each game. His 57% field goal percentage is good for sixth in the A-10. Classmate Steve Zack continues to lead the conference in rebounds/game (9.7). He is averaging a full rebound more than the league's second-leading rebounder.

Junior D.J. Peterson knocked down a pair of triples in the win over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. La Salle is 9-4 in games in which he has made a three pointer this season. Mills also bucketed two three pointers against the Bonnies, improving his clip to 40% from deep on the year.

Scouting the Rams
Fordham possesses an overall record of 9-17 and a 2-11 mark in A-10 play. They have dropped their last five contests, however, Fordham is 2-2 in their last four contests at home, defeating George Mason and Rhode Island.

Fordham does not boast a potent offense, ranking just 10th in A-10 play, averaging 68.2 points/game. However, the Rams are quite aggressive on the offensive glass. They rank 2nd in conference play in offensive rebounding, pulling down an average of 14.0 per A-10 game. The Rams also are a strong free-throw shooting team, knocking down shots from the charity stripe at a 71% clip, which is good for 4th in the conference in A-10 play.

One area where the Explorers will look to exploit the Rams is on the offensive end. Fordham ranks last in A-10 play on the defensive end, allowing conference opponents an average of 80.6 points/game. La Salle will look to use this to their advantage, as the Explorers look to piggyback on their season best shooting performance against St. Bonaventure on Wednesday evening.

The Rams boast one of the strongest backcourt combinations in the conference in senior Branden Frazier and freshman Jon Severe.

The dynamic freshman Severe has had a monster first season for the Rams, leading the conference in scoring, averaging 18.8 points/game.
