PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's rowers got a taste of early season action this weekend, competing in a dual race against Delaware in the morning, followed by a tri-race with Delaware and Saint Joseph's in the afternoon on the Schuylkill River.
In morning action against the Blue Hens, the varsity eight race was close with the Explorers finished in 7:15.71 to Delaware's 7:05.3. The V8 included rowers
Sarah Kanefsky, Karli Libbey,
Gianna Harris-Campbell,
Catherine Goldschmidt,
Bernadette Stanko, Katie Van Stone,
Emily Loughlin,
Amanda Ryan and Sofia Iaconnelli.
Delaware took the second varsity eight race by a time of 7:15.85 to the Explorers' 7:36.35. The Explorer boat was rowed by

Amanda Schwarz,
Cora Jones,
Tayler Horne,
Emma Merrick, Maddie Haaga,
Savannah Fader,
Maura McKenna and Kirsten Kerschbaumer.
The varsity four was also in action, clocking an 8:35.12 to Delaware's 8:03.3. The V4 consisted of Katie Reyes,
Brooke Spence, Meredith Lapan,
Erika Gonzalez and
Emma Merrick.
Later in the day, the varsity eight took second place in a three-boat race with Delaware and Saint Joseph's. The Explorers clocked a 7:17.6 to edge the Blue Hens (7:20.3) by just under three seconds. The Hawks won in 7:11.8. The afternoon V8 was rowed by

The 2V8 finished fourth in its race with a time of 8:00.6. The St. Joe's 2V8 won in 7:20.5, followed by the St. Joe's freshman boat (7:28.5) and Delaware (7:31.5). The 2V8 was rowed by Katie Reyes,

The Explorer rowers are back in action this Saturday in a tri-race against Drexel and Villanova.
