Duren Named Second Team All-Atlantic 10; Zack On All-Defensive Team

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle senior Tyreek Duren has been named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team and junior Steve Zack has been named to the All-Defensive Team, it was announced today in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.

Duren was named to the second team for the second straight season and is the sixth Explorer to earn multiple All-Atlantic 10 citations in a career.  He leads the team in scoring (15.2 ppg.), assists (104), steals (50), three-point field goals (58), free throws (115), free throw percentage (.816) and minutes (36.0).

"This is another much deserved honor for Tyreek's distinguished career," head coach Dr. John Giannini said. "We are always extremely proud of him. He has been a very special person and player for our program."

In the Atlantic 10, the Philadelphia product ranks second in steals per game (1.7), fourth in three-point percentage (.416), fifth in free throw percentage (.816) and 12th in scoring (15.2 ppg.).

Duren ranks 14th on La Salle's all-time scoring list with 1,714 points and is third in steals (226) and fourth in assists (496). He is one of five A-10 guards with 1,500 career points, 450 assists and 200 steals.

Zack is the first Explorer to earn All-Defensive awards since La Salle joined the A-10 in 1995-96. He leads the Atlantic 10 in rebounding (9.5), double-doubles (13) and defensive rebounding (6.7) and is also fifth in blocked shots. His career block total of 109 ranks fourth in La Salle history.

"Steve's honor is also much deserved," Giannini said. "The A-10 coaches realize that Steve is a great position defender who is consistently in the right place at the right time. He uses his size to make people miss shots and also to finish possessions as one of the best defensive rebounders in the country."

The New Cumberland, Pa. native averaged 8.7 ppg. and set new career-highs this season in rebounds (17) and blocks (five) in a game.

La Salle opens the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Thursday at the Barclays Center at noon versus St. Bonaventure. The game will be televised locally on Comcast SportsNet. Free live video and audio streams will be available and the game will also be broadcast on the radio on 990 AM.
