Baseball Hosts Rhode Island in Atlantic 10 Weekend Set; Friday's Video Stream Cancelled

PHILADELPHA – The La Salle baseball team will host Rhode Island for a trio of Atlantic 10 games beginning on Friday at 11:00 AM. Friday's video stream has been cancelled due to the weather.

  • La Salle ranks fourth in the A-10 in team batting average (.267).
  • Mark Williams is the reigning Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week after poking two homers and batting .375 in four games last week. He is tied for second in the conference in homers (3) and ranks fifth in slugging percentage (.537).
  • Kevin Baron has reached base safely in all 22 games this season and carries a conference-leading 24-game reached base streak dating back to last year. The junior is carrying a 10-game hitting streak as well. He ranks eighth in the A-10 in hitting (.345) and is tied for third in hits (30).
  • Josh Savakinus is also riding a 10-game hitting streak and is tied for the conference lead in triples (2).
  • Cameron Johnson leads the Explorers in batting (.348), good for sixth in the A-10. He has recorded a club-high eight multiple hit games.
  • Justin Korenblatt ranks eighth in the conference in hits (28) and leads the Blue & Gold in stolen bases (2).
  • George Smith Jr carries a four-game hitting streak. He is batting .444 (8-18) in the span with 2 runs and 4 RBI and has raised his batting average from .268 to .311.
  • Kevin Conroy recorded back-to-back two hit games last Friday and Saturday vs. UMass. He leads the Explorers in multiple RBI games (4).
  • Ryan Welling leads the Blue & Gold in doubles (6).
  • In 30 at bats, Nick Tierno has drawn nine walks and posted a .308 on base percentage.
  • Friday's probable starter, Shane Hollman, leads the staff in wins (2) and is striking out 8.2 batters per nine innings. Last time on the hill, he lasted 4.2 innings, giving up four runs (one earned) in a no decision (UMass, 3/21).

  • Nick DeRegis leads the club in stolen bases (5).
  • Pat Quinn is the only Ram to knock a homer this season (1).
  • Friday's probable starter, Ty Sterner, has struck out 15 and walked 12 in 15.2 innings of work. Opponents are batting .323 against him.
  • Saturday's probable starter, Stever Moyers, leads the staff in ERA (2.91) and has limited opponents to a .214 batting average against clip. He has fanned 19 and walked 11 in 34 innings.
  • Sunday's probable starter, Lou Distasio has struck out 19 and walked nine in 25.1 innings. Opponents are batting .310 against him.
