BOSTON, Mass. – 12 Explorers competed over the weekend at the IC4A Championships, hosted by Boston University. Freshman
Chris Sanders registered the top individual finish of the weekend with a fifth place effort in the 800 meter run finals (1:51.74, PR).
Sanders' time came in less than half a second behind the school record, held by
Paul Reilly at 1:51.26 (2012). Sanders was the only Atlantic 10 runner to qualify for the finals in the event.
Alfredo Santana ran a season-best 14:20.91 in the 5000 meter run on Saturday afternoon, finishing sixth. He paced three more Explorer finishers, led by a 14:41.33 from
Demetri Goutos (17
th).
Nico Greco (14:43.47) and
Ian Barnhill (14:50.38) came in 19
th and 23
rd, respectively.
Santana registered the top Explorer time in the 3000 meter run on Sunday as well. He ran an 8:12.42, good for 17
th.
Vince Perozze registered an 8:14.16, coming in 19
th while
Zach Sullivan finished 23
rd (8:18.07). Goutos ran an 8:25.93 (39
th).
Kevin Day came crossed the finish line at 2:29.29 in the 1000 meter run, finishing eighth in his heat and 14
th overall.
The DMR (Robertson, Hunter, Trimble, Ozarowski) notched a 10:16.72, good for 15
th.
As a team, the Blue & Gold netted seven points, coming in 26
th of 41.
