Kevin Baron in the bottom of the first, GW starter Jacob Williams didn't give up another until the ninth to lead the Colonials over the La Salle baseball team, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field. The Blue & Gold managed only two knocks and five baserunners on the day.
Baron (2-4) was the only Explorer to find the hit column on Saturday, picking up singles in the first and ninth innings.
George Smith Jr (0-3) earned a first inning walk and
Jack Meeker was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning. Williams (W, 3-3) retired 24 of 25 Explorers afrer setting in, with only an error in the sixth inning on a
Collin McGowan groundout in the way of his streak.
Colin Molin picked up his fourth save of the year after Williams was pulled after eight-plus frames.
The Blue & Gold pushed a run across in the ninth when Smith Jr hit into a double play, scoring pinch runner
Joe Monzo from third. The Colonials scored two in the fifth and another in the top of the ninth.
Joey Ravert (L, 1-1) practically matched Williams' effort on the hill, falling just one batter shy of a complete game. He gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out five and walking two. Head coach
