PHILADELPHIA – Shawn O'Neill threw eight innings of one-run ball as the La Salle baseball team defeated George Washington, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field. The senior earned the win, fanning six Colonials and walking two while scattering eight hits in the effort.

The Explorers scored one in the second and two in the third to provide a cushion for O'Neill. GW starter Bobby LeWarne (L, 1-4) worked seven innings, giving up four unearned runs before handing the ball to Jordan Sheinkop who surrendered another in the eighth.

Justin Korenblatt had three knocks on the day while Mark Williams drove in two runs to pace the offense for the Blue & Gold. The Explorers took advantage of a trio of GW mishaps defensively to secure the win.

La Salle (10-22, 5-5 A-10) will host Delaware State on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in non-league action.
