RICHMOND, Va. – VCU scored early and often on Saturday afternoon at the Diamond, tagging La Salle starter Joey Ravert (L, 1-2) for four runs in 2.2 innings en route to an 11-1 victory. The Rams improved to 27-9, 8-4 A-10 while the Explorers dipped to 11-23, 6-6.

The Rams scored all 11 runs in the first six innings to blow the game open. The home team banged out 14 hits on the afternoon and capitalized on four La Salle errors. Matt Blanchard worked 7.2 innings of one-run ball and earned his fourth win of the year.

The Explorers picked up their lone run in the fourth when Justin Korenblatt plated Kevin Baron on an RBI groundout.

La Salle and VCU will play the series rubber match on Sunday. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
