La Salle Bats Quieted in 12-2 Loss to Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA – Cameron Johnson bopped his second homer in as many games, providing a bright spot for the La Salle baseball team in a 12-2 loss to Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field. SJU starter Jordan Carter (W, 7-3) tossed eight innings of two-run ball for the Hawks.

Saint Joseph's (25-10, 12-4 A-10) scored runs in each of the first four innings, jumping out to an early 10-1 lead. The visitors notched 17 hits on the afternoon including a four-hit effort from Mike Muha.

La Salle (11-27, 6-9 A-10) picked up a run in the second inning on a solo bomb from Johnson, his third of the season. Johnson also hit a home run in his final at bat on Friday, becoming the first Explorer this season to visit souvenir city in back-to-back at bats. Johnson added an RBI single in the fourth.

Joey Ravert (L, 1-3) made the start for the Blue & Gold but was chased after just two innings after giving up five earned runs. He scattered six hits while walking two before handing the ball to Dominic Sgroi, the first of six Explorer relievers to visit the hill.

The city rivals will play the third game of the weekend series on Sunday with first pitch set for noon. Shawn O'Neill will make the start for La Salle and will be opposed by Tyler Pallante.
