Men’s 4xMile Breaks School Record at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – The men's 4xMile team broke a seven-year old La Salle record on Saturday afternoon at the Penn Relays, clocking a 16:33.50 in the 4xMile Championship of America. Zach Sullivan, Nick Ross, Vince Perozze, and Alfredo Santana combined to clock the mark that unseated the school record of 16:36.63, set in 2007.

The mark was good for 11th in the 13-team field, and finished in between Michigan (16:27.98) and Iona (16:42.85). Oregon won the race with a 16:09.67.

Later in the day, the 4x800 meter relay team posted a 7:46.65, coming in 23rd of 26. Kevin Day (1:57.44), Kevin Grosso (1:59.58), Chris Trimble (1:58.32), and Chris Sanders (1:51.32) combined for the effort.

LEHIGH GAMES
The 4x100 meter relay team (Francis Mancho, Joshua Byrd, Avery Hunter-Brooks, Cris Hunter) came in first (3-team field) with a 43.13.

Timothy Flanagan (4:00.66) and Evan Laratta (4:00.73) placed second and third, respectively, in the 1500 meter run. They paced a group of five Explorers in the event.

Luke Arbuckle was the first of two Explorers to finish the 5000 meter run, timing a 15:45.83 en route to a fourth place finish (21-runner field).

Ben Pershall registered a 9:41.78 in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing third (7-runner field).

Michael Santeramo turned in a third place effort (17-competitor field) in the javelin throw, hurling a 49.26m toss.
