PHILADELPHIA - La Salle teams continue to excel in the classroom as evidenced by the Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores announced today by the NCAA. The NCAA released sport specific data, which includes the most recent four years of data collected (2009-10 to 2012-13) to determine a rolling multi-year APR score that provides a meaningful assessment of a team's academic performance.
The Academic Progress Rate (APR) provides a four-year "snapshot" of a team's academic success by looking at current academic progress of every student-athlete. The APR measures eligibility, retention, and graduation as factors in the rate calculation and provides a much clearer picture of the current academic culture in each sport.
The volleyball and men's tennis teams recorded perfect 1000 multi-year scores and received a NCAA Public Recognition Award for having a score in the top 10 percent nationally for their respective sport.
The men's basketball team posted a perfect score of 1000 in 2012-13 for the second straight year. Fourteen other programs also posted perfect scores last season (men's cross country, men's golf, men's tennis, men's indoor track, men's outdoor track, women's cross country, women's rowing, field hockey, softball, women's soccer, women's tennis, women's indoor track, women's outdoor track and volleyball).
All La Salle teams are in good standing and no Explorer team has ever been penalized.
