Box Score (PDF)DAYTON, Oh. – A day after a 13 hit showing that produced an 8-5 victory, the La Salle baseball team managed just four hits in a 5-0 loss to Dayton on Saturday afternoon at Woerner Field. Charlie Dent went all nine for the Flyers, striking out nine and walking three in his sixth victory of the year.
George Smith Jr (1-4) was the lone Explorer to notch an extra base hit on the afternoon, lacing a double in the seventh inning.
Justin Korenblatt (1-3, BB),
Nick Tierno (1-3, BB), and
Cameron Johnson (1-4) joined him in the hit column.
Tom Fazzini (1-3) made his first career start and took the loss after surrendering four runs (three earned) in three innings. He struck out two and walked one while scattering four hits.
The Flyers scored one in the first, three in the third, and another in the seventh to provide all the offense Dent would need in the shutout victory.
Sunday will feature the series rubber match with first pitch scheduled for noon.
