Volleyball Welcomes Recruiting Class To La Salle

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle head volleyball coach Caitlin Rimgaila is pleased to welcome her first recruiting class of three student-athletes (Rachel Carr, Bryanna Davis and Hannah McGary), to La Salle University.

"I am very excited about the potential for this incoming class," Rimgaila said. "All three of the girls have the right attitude, discipline and drive to immediately impact our program, and help bring La Salle volleyball into a new era of success."

Bryanna Davis (Oakland, Calif. / Bishop O'Dowd) earned all-state honors as a senior and was a four-time all-conference selection. The 5-foot-11 outside hitter was named the county's most valuable player after averaging nearly 16 kills per match. Davis helped lead her team to a Western Alameda County Conference Championship with a perfect 14-0 record and a North Coast Section Division III title. She chose La Salle over BYU, UTEP, UC Riverside and Houston.

"Bryanna is an incredibly talented volleyball player, who will make an immediate contribution for us in the outside hitter position," Rimgaila said. "She brings a lot of experience to our program, and is guaranteed to help take our program to a higher level."

Davis is planning on majoring in the Health Sciences.

Hannah McGary (Santa Rosa, Calif. / Montgomery) is a 6-foot-3 outside hitter that was a three-time all-league selection in high school. Hannah is an honor roll student who will be graduating with the prestigious International Baccalaureate Degree. She is planning on majoring in ISBT.  A team captain, she chose La Salle over UC Santa Cruz.

"At 6'3, Hannah has proven herself as a dominant front-row player, but also has developed her passing and defensive skills this past club season," Rimgaila said. "Hannah has an infectious personality, and is very dedicated to her academics and athletics. She will look to compete immediately on both the right side and the outside."

Rachel Carr (Glen Allen, Va. / Deep Run) is a 6-foot-4 right side hitter that received all-conference and academic all-conference honors as a senior. She chose La Salle over Georgetown, VCU and Brandeis.

"Rachel has only been playing volleyball for a few years, but has already shown tremendous strides in her skills and overall knowledge of the game," Rimgaila said. "She is a very intelligent student-athlete, and will be able to use her uncanny ability to pick up feedback to quickly further her development."

Carr comes to La Salle with an impressive academic record including a 4.0+ GPA. She is planning on majoring in Pre-Law.

The Explorers begin their 2014 season by hosting the La Salle Invitational on August 29-30.
