Box Score (PDF)PHILADELPHIA – Rider used a four-run sixth inning and held on for a 6-5 win over the La Salle baseball team on Tuesday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field. The Broncs improve to 15-31 on the year while La Salle dips to 13-33.
The Broncs posted a four-spot in the sixth inning, putting the visitors up 5-1 at the time.
Cameron Johnson misplayed a liner in front of the left field wall which sparked a two-out rally with
Freddy Andujar (L, 0-7) on the hill.
The Explorers came clawing back, scoring two in the seventh and two in the eighth to cut the deficit to 6-5. Eric Thomas retired the side in the ninth and earned his second save to halt La Salle's momentum. David Hafer took the win, tossing seven innings and giving up three runs (one earned).
Johnson (2-4, 2 R) was the lone Explorer to notch a multi-hit effort, doubling twice in the ballgame.
Kevin Baron (1-5) and
Mark Williams (1-4) both knocked in runs for the Blue & Gold.
The Explorers will conclude regular season Atlantic 10 play with a three-game series this weekend vs. Saint Louis. The series opener is set for Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
