JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Alfredo Santana survived and advanced on Thursday evening at the NCAA Preliminary Championships, clocking a 3:45.80 in the 1500 meter run while finishing fifth in his heat and fifth overall. The senior will compete in the event quarterfinals on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. before running the 5k at 8:05 p.m.

Nick Ross and Zach Sullivan each ran the second-fastest 1500m times of their careers on Thursday but failed to advance. Ross ran a 3:47.68, finishing 10^th in his heat and 16^th overall. Sullivan crossed the line at 3:49.95, ninth in his heat and 26^th overall.

Chris Sanders concluded a marvelous freshman season with a 1:50.56 mark in the 800 meter run. He came in seventh in his heat and 43^rd overall.
