PHILADELPHIA - Recent La Salle graduate
Alfredo Santana recently was the graduation speaker at his high school alma mater, Nueva Esperanza Academy, a charter school in Philadelphia. Santana has had an accomplished career at La Salle and has been named the Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer four times in his career, the most by any A-10 athlete in conference history. He is competing in the 1500m at the NCAA Championship on June 12, the first Explorer in six years to reach the final round.
Santana is also an impressive student, earning La Salle Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Scholar All-America honors. He graduated from La Salle with a degree in psychology.Â
The Philadelphia native is the second student-athlete to have a significant role in a recent graduation. Softball player Emily Moran was La Salle's commencement speaker on May 18.
