Shannon Clegg Promoted To Associate Director of Athletic Training

PHILADELPHIA - Shannon Clegg has been promoted to the position of Associate Director of Athletic Training, Director of Athletic Training Bill Gerzabek announced today. Clegg joined the La Salle staff in August 2013 as an assistant athletic trainer, with five years of prior experience on the training staff at The George Washington University.

"Shannon has been a welcome addition to the Athletic Training Staff," Gerzabek said. "She has brought many new ideas, clinically and administratively, to energize and strengthen the Athletic Training department. I look forward to working with her in her new role."

Clegg will work with the men's basketball team in her new role, after working with women's basketball and field hockey in her first year on 20th and Olney.

During her time at GW, Clegg worked with the men's basketball team, along with lacrosse, softball, and men's and women's tennis.

Clegg obtained her master's of education in kinesiology with a concentration in athletic training from Temple in 2008. She also spent time as a graduate assistant in Club Sports and Recreation at Drexel prior to her hire at GW.

An '06 graduate of Springfield College, Clegg completed the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Corrective Exercise Specialist certification in December 2011. In addition, she has an extensive background in concussions, conducting her master's research on the topic and producing a thesis entitled "The Effect of Soccer Heading on Brain Injury Protein Markers."

Clegg is a contributing author on several publications, including: -"Genetic Variation & Individualized Medicine" Journal of Sports Rehabilitation, 2010 Nov 19(4) -"An in-vivo model of function head impact testing in non-helmeted athletes" Journal of Sports Engineering & Technology, 2009 Sept 223(3).
