Santana, Sullivan Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Status

PHILADELPHIA – Alfredo Santana and Zach Sullivan have been named track and field All-Academic performers by the USTFCCCA. In addition the La Salle men's track and field team earned the distinction as an All-Academic team by the organization.
 
Santana earned Third-Team All-American status during the indoor season, while qualifying for the NCAA Division I Championships in the outdoor season. At the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships Santana earned the Most Outstanding Track Performer award for the second consecutive year becoming the first runner in A-10 history to win the 3000 and 5000 back-to-back years. During the outdoor season, the senior won the 5k race at the IC4A Championships and qualified in the 1500 meter for the NCAA Final Round Championships in Eugene, Oregon.  
 
A psychology major, Santana posted a 3.33 GPA and was named a CoSIDA/Capital One Third Team Academic All-American for the 2013-14 academic year.
 
Sullivan had his best year as an Explorer earning three college bests while also qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the 1500 meter during the outdoor season. During the indoor season, Sullivan came in second in the mile, and was a member of the Distance Medley Relay team that came in second during the A-10 Championships. Outdoor, Sullivan was a member of the 4x800 meter relay team that won the A-10 Championship.
 
A business management major, Sullivan posted a 3.25 GPA.
 
In all, 116 men's programs received the nod from the USTFCCCA, which requires a team minimum GPA of 3.0 for the distinction. The A-10 had had seven men's teams earn the honor as well, which tied for second most of any conference behind the Big East.
