PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's and women's swimming and diving team will travel to Fordham University for swim meets at the Messmore Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
The men's team was named No. 11 on a list of the most improved teams in college swimming this season, according to an article published by
www.collegeswimming.com last week. In their final team event of 2014, the men's team finished in 3
rd place finish in the Bucknell Invitational in late November.
Seven men's swimmers competed in the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships at the Greensboro Aquatics Complex in early December.
Dimitrije Mladenovic broke the La Salle school record in the 100-yard breaststroke during a preliminary, clocking a 55.15 to break
Johan Roth's record of 55.31.
CJ Gimpel also won both events for the men during a diving meet at West Chester on December 6, registering a 289.28 to win the 1-meter while scoring 277.73 to seal the victory in the 3-meter competition.
The men are 4-0 in dual meets this season, and also swept a tri-meet with Delaware and Rider on November 8.
The women, who will swim in a tri-meet with Richmond, are coming off a 5
th place finish at the Bucknell Invitational. Senior Chelsea Curran and junior
Kelsey Jenkinson represented the women's team at Winter National Championships in early December.
The women's diving team competed against West Chester on December 6 inside Hollinger Field House.
Paige Frishkorn won both events on the diving board, taking the 1-meter dive with 258.45 and the 3-meter dive with a 267.90. The Explorers controlled the top three spots in the 3-meter dive as
Kelly Quinn (255.08) and
Dahlia Gordon (233.93) took 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
The women have split both of their tri-meets so far this season, and are 2-1 in dual meets.
