BRONX, N.Y.-The La Salle men's swimming and diving team improved to 5-0 in dual meets this season with a 177-121 defeat of the Fordham Rams at the Messmore Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.
"It was great to get back competing, we have to take advantage of the competition opportunities left to prepare for peak performance at the A10 Championships," said associate head coach
Jamie Platt. "There was a lot of good to take away from our performances today."
The 200-yard relay team of
Fabian Bergman,
Dimitrije Mladenovic,
Cameron Fadley and
Jonathan Cabral got the Explorers off to a strong start with a win (1:34.66).
Cabral also took 1
st in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.71.
Justin Hughes touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle, turning in a time of 47.52.
The Explorers took the top three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke, paced by Mladenovic's 58.57 to win the heat.
Johan Roth took 2
nd with 59.87 and
Strahinja Stankovic finished 3
rd (1:00.73). Stankovic (2:10.16) and Mladenovic (2:12.46) also finished 1
st and 2
nd in the 200-yard breaststroke, respectively.
Bergman also won the 200-yard backstroke with the time of (1:52.88).
Jakub Bartosiewicz won the 100-yard butterfly (51.99) while
Jerry Gravel paced the 200-yard IM (1:56.02).
Dylan Yurasits and
CJ Gimpel took the top two spots in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving board competitions. Yurasits topped the 1-meter dive (286.50) and took 2
nd in the 3-meter (282.20) while Gimpel won the 3-meter (294.65) and 2
nd in the 1-meter (273.60).
The men's swimming and diving team returns home this week as they host Loyola in Kirk Pool on Thursday at 5 p.m.
