PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's swimming and diving team improved to 6-0 in dual meets this season with a 216-87 defeat of the Loyola Greyhounds in Kirk Pool on Thursday evening.
"It is always fun to race at Kirk Pool," said head coach
Matt Nunnally. "The team has shown great energy at practices and that same energy was apparent at this meet."
The Explorers took control of the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay as
Fabian Bergman,
Johan Roth,
Jakub Bartosiewicz and
Kip Gravel posted a 3:29.71 to take the victory.
Bergman also excelled individually, taking 1
st place in the 100-yard backstroke (52.72), the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.93), and turning in the top time in the 200-yard IM (1:56.49).
Bartosiewicz was another top performer for the Explorers, winning the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:54.81 and touching the wall in 51.62 to win the 100-yard butterfly.
Mattias Glenesk continued his dominance of distance freestyle this season, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:41.55) by more than 20 seconds before pacing the 500-yard freestyle (4:43.21) by nearly 15 seconds.
Dylan Yurasits topped both events on the diving board, winning the 1-meter dive with a 297.68 and the 3-meter dive with a 296.55.
The men's swimming and diving team is back in action when they host Penn in Kirk Pool on Saturday, January 31 for their final meet of the regular season. Atlantic 10 Championships are February 18-21 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
