PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle swimming team heads to Geneva, Ohio this weekend as they participate in a four team meet against fellow Atlantic 10 members Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, and Saint Louis. The action gets underway on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The men's team is coming off a week that saw them sweep a pair of local foes in Villanova and Drexel. First the Explorers grabbed a 222.5-135.5 win over Nova while winning 13 of the 16 events in the meet. They returned against Drexel to take a 167-133 victory while winning 11 of the 16 events on the day.

Freshman Aleksandar Nikolic was named Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming Freshman of the week thanks to his performance. The Nis, Serbia native grabbed four wins and three second place finishes in eight events swam over the pair of meets. La Salle also had a strong showing from sophomore Jakub Bartosiewicz who won all four individual events he entered in and helped three of the four relay teams he swam on bring home the top time. Bartosiewicz owns the second fastest time in the Atlantic 10 in both the 100-yard butterfly (50.37 vs. Drexel) and 200-yard butterfly (1:51.94 vs. Drexel).

Sophomore Fabian Bergman owns the third fastest time in the conference in a pair of events this year thanks to his 50.84 100-yard backstroke against Drexel and 1:56.46 in the 200-yard IM at Drexel. Senior Johan Roth owns the fastest time swam in the 200-yard breaststroke by an Atlantic 10 swimmer this year thanks to a 2:07.19 at Drexel while swimming the second fastest time in the league in the 100-yard breast with a 58.27 at Drexel. The Explorers also own the second fastest A-10 times in the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.22) and 400-yard medley relay (3:27.89).

The women's team also had a weekly honoree as freshman
Olivia DiStefano earned her second Atlantic 10 Swimming Freshman of the week honors. The Philadelphia native won a pair of races while also collecting six second place finishes in her eight events over the course of the week.

Sophomore
Emma Smith holds the top time in the conference in the 1000-yard freestyle thanks to swimming a 10:26.32 at Drexel this past week. She also won the 500-yard freestyle race at Drexel. Freshman
Mary Harrington picked up a win in the 200-yard breaststroke against Nova with a time of 2:31.08.

Senior
Kelly Quinn swept the diving events against Villanova winning both the one meter (231.09 points) and three meter events (229.59 points). DiStefano won the 100-yard backstroke in both meets during the week.

The Explorers return to Kirk Pool on Saturday, November 7 as they welcome Delaware and Rider with the meet getting underway at noon.Â
