Volleyball Falls at George Washington


PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle women's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-27, 15-25, 9-25) to George Washington to close out its 2015 campaign. Senior Kelly Perillo finished with a team-high eight kills while freshman Jensen Sharrits had a match-high nine digs in the match.
 
The first set went down to the wire, but ultimately the host Colonials were able to pull out a 27-25 victory. The Explorers had two set points at 24-23 and 25-24 following kills from Perillo and freshman Madison Kuch, but both times were unable to put the set away. Perillo had six kills on just 12 swings to hit .500 in the frame while sophomore Bryanna Davis added four kills in the frame. As a team the Explorers (6-25, 0-14 A-10) hit .389 in the frame.
 
The second set saw George Washington jump out to an early lead and never look back on its way to a 25-15 set win. La Salle fell behind by as much as nine early in the frame at 12-3, however, they closed the gap to just four at 14-10 thanks to a 7-2 run that featured three kills from Kuch. It wasn't enough as the hosts were able to regain composure to close out he set. Kuch converted on four of seven swings in the frame for the Explorers.
 
George Washington closed out the match with a commanding 25-9 set three win. Sophomore Rachel Carr had two of her four kills in the frame on just three swings.
 
Freshman Taylor Hite finished with 28 assists on the evening.
