NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- La Salle freshman
Jensen Sharrits has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team as announced by the conference on Thursday.
The Concord Township, Ohio native served as the primary libero for the Explorers all season. Sharrits finished third in the Atlantic 10 averaging 4.11 digs per set on the season. She also holds the two single match-high digs totals in the conference on the season, recording 34 digs against both Davidson and Bryant.
"I am really proud of Jensen," added head coach
Caitlin Rimgaila. "Jumping into the libero role as a freshman can be a tough task, but she handled herself with poise and maturity. She was a key player for us this season, and will hopefully continue to lead our defensive effort over the next three seasons."
Sharrits finished the season with 456 digs which is the most by a La Salle freshman in a single season since Kayla Beck recorded 529 digs in 2007. Sharrits is the first Explorers to be named to the All-Rookie Team since Christa Dominick in 2005 and just the fourth La Salle player to receive the honor.Â
