LEWISBURG, Pa.- The La Salle women's swimming and diving team were able to score in five different events on the first day of the Bucknell Invitational.

Freshman Olivia DiStefano turned in the top performance of the day, finishing in seventh place in the A-Final of the 50 yard freestyle race. DiStefano swam a 23.80 time to earn 23 points towards the team score. Junior Kate Hay finished in 19th place swimming in the C-Finals with a time of 24.05 to earn 5.5 points.

Junior Eva Marie Østerhus finished in 14th place and had the sixth fastest time in the B-Finals of the 500 yard freestyle race. Østerhus swam a 5:01.55 in the finals to earn 13 points towards the team score. Sophomore Emma Smith swam in the C-Finals finishing in 4:55.53 for the top time in her heat to earn nine team points. Smith swam the sixth fastest time of anyone in the three final heats.

Sophomore Sydney Szopo turned in the top performance in the three meter diving, scoring 202.20 for a 12th place finish and 15 team points. Freshman Dominique DiRienzio (14th place, 195.60) and senior Kelly Quinn (15th place, 191.35) were close behind to earn 13 and 12 points respectively.

The La Salle relay team of Hay, DiStefano, sophomore Natalie Simunek and junior Tanawan Sukonthapanich finished in seventh place in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team swam a time of 1:36.49 to earn 36 team points.

Later, DiStefano, sophomore Maddy Koelsch, Østerhus, and Hay swam in the 400 yard medley relay finishing in 11th place with a time of 3:52.00 to earn 32 points for the team.

After day one La Salle sits in seventh place with 158.5 team points.
