La Salle Falls to Robert Morris

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team fell to the Robert Morris Colonials 76-45 in nonconference action on Saturday night at Tom Gola Arena.

La Salle scored six unanswered points on three-point plays from Amy Griffin and Jordan Williams near the end of the 2nd quarter to help cut RMU's lead to 31-22 at the half. The Colonials, however, took control of the game after the break as they outscored the Explorers 27-10 in the 3rd quarter.

Eleven different players found the scoring column for Robert Morris, including a game-high 15 points from Anna Niki Stamolamprou. Sophomore center Mikalah Mulrain picked up her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Griffin led the Explorers with 14 points and five rebounds. Jasmine Alston chipped in eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

Alston collected a steal on the game's opening possession and converted it to a fast break layup to get things going for La Salle. The Explorers held the lead until an Ashley Ravelli three-pointer tied the game at 5-5 with 4:55 remaining in the opening quarter.

The trey from Ravelli started a run of 10 unanswered points for the Colonials to push their lead to 12-5. Griffin converted a steal into a fast break layup to halt the run and Micahya Owens hit a jumper in the final seconds of the opening quarter to cut the deficit to 14-9.

The Explorers are on the road for their next six games beginning with a trip to Wake Forest on Wednesday to take on the Demon Deacons in the LJVM Coliseum at 2 p.m.
