Explorers Begin Road Trip at Wake Forest on Wednesday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The La Salle women's basketball team begins a five-game road swing on Wednesday afternoon against Wake Forest at 2 PM in LJVM Coliseum.

All-Time Series

This is just the second-ever meeting between La Salle and Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons took the first meeting 87-71 on Nov. 22, 2002 in Dallas, Texas.

Scouting the Explorers
Sophomore Amy Griffin leads La Salle with 13.3 points per game after averaging 7.8 ppg as a freshman last season. Griffin has scored in double figures in all three games this season, and also adds 5.3 rebounds per game. 

Micahya Owens isn't far behind with 13.0 points per game while freshman Adreana Miller has made an immediate impact with 10.3 ppg through her first three collegiate games. 

Jasmine Alston, a 5'9" guard, has led the team in rebounds in two of three games this season, and is tied for 8th in the A-10 with 7.3 rebounds per game. The junior also leads the team with 4.3 assists per game this season, which is tied for sixth in the A-10.

Alston, who led the league with 2.3 steals per game last season on the way to All-Defensive honors, is fifth in the league with 2.7 thefts per game in 2015. 

Ashanti Freeland had five points and five rebounds in 15 minutes against Robert Morris on Saturday, both season-highs for the sophomore.

Scouting the Demon Deacons
Wake Forest is coming off a 94-81 loss to Missouri on Sunday after starting the season 3-0. The Demon Deacons picked up wins over LSU, East Tennessee State and A-10 foe Davidson. 

Sophomore Amber Campbell leads Wake Forest in scoring (15.0 ppg), and has scored 20 points in back-to-back games. Freshman Ariel Stephenson isn't far behind with 14.5 ppg, including a season-high 21 points in the win over LSU.

Milan Quinn is averaging close to a double-double, going for 11.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this season. The junior is second in the ACC in field-goal percentage (66.0) and third in rebounding. 

Another Demon Deacon, Kandice Ball, is fifth on the ACC leaderboard for blocked shots, averaging 2.25 rejections per game.

The Explorers travel south for the Miami Thanksgiving Classic this weekend, beginning with a Saturday afternoon matchup up against Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 1 PM. La Salle concludes the trip against Miami on Sunday at 1 PM.
