Explorers Host Big 5 Rival Villanova on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team will host Big 5 rival Villanova on Sunday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena in its final home game of 2015.

Scouting the Explorers
Amy Griffin poured in a career-high 26 points against North Texas on Wednesday, going 7-for-17 from the field and 10-for-12 from the line. The sophomore has scored in double figures in five of her six games this season. 

Micahya Owens leads the team with 14.8 points per game and needs just 28 to become the 24th Explorer to score 1,000 career points. The junior had 16 points against North Texas on Wednesday and added a career-high seven steals in the game. 
 
Owens is now tied with teammate Jasmine Alston for 4th in the A-10 with 2.2 thefts per game. Alston is also third in the A-10 in assists per game (5.2) after dishing out six assists on Wednesday.

Redshirt senior Ebony Wells (who leads La Salle in FG % at 45.1) chipped in eight points off the bench against the Mean Green and was an efficient 4-for-6 from the floor. Wells has averaged 7.0 points and 3.8 rebounds off the bench over the last four games. 

Scouting the Wildcats
The Wildcats are coming off a 78-70 road loss against George Washington on Sunday, and are 1-3 in December after going 4-1 in November. Villanova is also 3-4 away from the friendly confines of The Pavilion this season

Caroline Coyer leads the Wildcats with 14.2 points per game, and has three 20-point games this season. The senior also leads the team in assists (5.2 apg.), rebounds (6.7 rpg.), three-point field goals (19), steals (12) and minutes played (36.1 mpg).

Junior Jordan Dillard has been hot for the Wildcats, scoring in double figures in four of the last six games and going 27-of-49 (.551) from the field during that stretch. 

Freshman Adrianna Hahn has scored in double figures in five of nine games this season, and is second on the team in scoring with 11.1 points per game.

The Explorers will prepare for the Hawk Holiday Classic hosted by Monmouth on December 29-30. La Salle will open against Norfolk State (Dec. 29) and play either Monmouth or St. Francis Brooklyn on December 30.
