WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The La Salle women's basketball team will take on the Norfolk State Spartans on Tuesday afternoon in the opening game of the Hawk Holiday Classic hosted by Monmouth.

Scouting the Explorers-
Amy Griffin was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week (12/21) after averaging 24.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in two games before Christmas. The sophomore poured in a career-high 26 points against North Texas (12/16).

Micahya Owens has registered 972 career points, needing just 28 points to become the 24th Explorer to score 1,000 career points.

Jasmine Alston recorded her third career double-double against Villanova on Dec. 20 (10 points/10 rebounds), and is also fourth in the Atlantic 10 with 4.8 assists per game this season.
-Owens is 13th in the A-10 in scoring (13.3 points per game and third in free throw percentage (81.1 %).

Deja Bullock had a career-high eight points against Villanova on Sunday after missing last season due to injury.
Scouting the Spartans-Norfolk State fell to 0-9 on the season after falling 81-67 at Marshall (Dec. 20). Kayla Roberts led all scorers with 20 points against the Thundering Herd.
-Roberts was one of four Spartans in double figures, followed by Kiara Phillips with a season-high 16, Yazmen Hannah with 14 and
Siobhan Beslow with 13.
-Beslow, who played four seasons at La Salle before graduating in the spring with a season of eligibility remaining, also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. The Norfolk native leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 10.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Up Next The Explorers will play either Monmouth or St. Francis Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon. Game time will be set following Tuesday's action.
