Emma Smith won the 100 yard IM to lead the La Salle women's swimming and diving team on the final day of the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational.
The Explorers finished the three day event with 1204.5 points which was good for second place out of 11 teams involved in the event. The final day saw 14 different top-10 finishes for La Salle.
Smith touched the wall in 59.45 to best the field of 27 in the 100 IM event. Junior Eva Marie Østerhus and sophomore
Madeline Koelsch finished in third and fourth overall with times of 59.65 and 59.79. Sophomore
Hannah Elliott also finished in the top-10 thanks to a time of 1:01.26 for seventh place.
Junior
Kaitlyn Hay finished in second place in the 100 yard freestyle event thanks to a time of 51.46. Freshman
Olivia DiStefano also swam in the event finishing in 52.84.
Sophomore
Danielle Thomas was the top La Salle finisher in the 200 breaststroke thanks to a time of 2:28.04 for a sixth place finish. Koelsch touched in 10
th with a time of 2:30.10.
Senior
Hayley Miles used a time of 18:02.43 to finish seventh in the 1650 yard freestyle race. Freshman
Shannon Battis was close behind in 18:10.04 for eighth place.
Østerhus also swam in the 200 backstroke event finishing in sixth place with a time of 2:07.85.
A pair of Explorers finished in the top ten in the one meter diving event. Senior
Kelly Quinn finished in second place with a total of 377.45 out of 27 entries. Quinn was 9.65 points behind the winner. Sophomore
Sydney Szopo finished in ninth place with a total of 346.35.
Quinn and Szopo also finished in the top-ten in the three meter diving competition earlier in the Invitational. Quinn had a total of 420.15 for second place out of 23 entries, just 6.45 points off the winner. Szopo finished in tenth with 360.35 points.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Østerhus, Hay, DiStefano, and Smith finished in a time of 3:28.02 for second place.
The Explorers return to action on January 23 as they welcome Fordham and Richmond to Kirk Pool for a Tri-Meet.Â
